Association of Western Australian Community Resource Centres
The West Australian Community Resource Network (previously the Telecentre Network), is one of Western Australia’s longest running and most successful regional community service programs.
The need for a representative and supportive body for all WA Community Resource Centres (CRCs) was identified and the seeds were sown with the WA Government in 2009, who went on to support the development of the Association in its fledgling stages.
In 2010 the Association of WA Community Resource Centres Inc. was born, and it has been working hard to ensure opportunities and advocacy for our member CRCs are seized and acted on.
Since then board members have volunteered their time to represent members from all regions in WA, from the Kimberley to the Goldfields, Wheatbelt, Gascoyne, South West and everywhere in between.
With such distances and diversity, face to face meetings have provided challenges - however, with CRC technology at their fingertips in the regions, the board meets up to 8 times a year, with 3 - 4 face to face meetings and the rest via high definition supported video conferencing through the Beingthere system.
The AWACRC focuses on building partnerships and developing opportunities for members, to benefit regional and remote communities throughout WA.
Current board members - Lee Steel, Sharon Bell, Debbie Morris, Fran Bullock,
Jodie Nield, Tania Smith, Sharon Moore and Darcey Yates.
